Organization profile

Advances in scientific knowledge and the incorporation of new technologies based on knowledge and innovation are driving unprecedented changes in industrial and productive systems and in society as a whole.

In response to these challenges, new approaches have emerged that transcend the traditional engineering disciplines and successfully address highly complex problems that are impossible to solve from a traditional perspective.

Modern productive activity also develops in a demanding context, which is given by the new conditions of consumption and the constant challenges of competitiveness and sustainability that make necessary the development of new products and processes that maximize benefits and adjust production systems to modern environmental and social requirements.

In order to meet these challenges, Universidad San Sebastián created the PhD in Engineering to train researchers with advanced knowledge in emerging and interdisciplinary areas of engineering, who contribute to the solution of problems associated with the technological and productive activities of the country within the framework of the needs of the industry of the XXI century.

The PhD in Engineering program is framed within the following lines of research:

  1. Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials
  2. Bioengineering, Energy and Sustainable Processes.
  3. Data Science, Analytics and Operations
