Research interests

His current research focuses on the black hole physics and gravitational theories. In particular, he studies the effects of matter fields on black holes. The aim is to find black hole spacetimes in presence of matter fields and to analyze their geometric and thermodynamics properties. Other research line is the study of singularities in three-dimensional spacetimes obtained by identifications in the anti-de Sitter space

Personal profile

Cristián Martínez is a theoretical physicist. He received his BSc degree (1991) and PhD in Physics (1996) from the Universidad de Chile. In 1997 he joined the Centro de Estudios Científicos (CECs) at Santiago as postdoctoral researcher. From 2000 he is a researcher at CECs in Valdivia, Chile. In the last 25 years he has been referee for a number of scientific journals and has participated as principal investigator and co-investigator in several research projects. From March 2022 he is also a researcher at the Universidad San Sebastián.

Teaching

He has been advisor of PhD and Master graduate students from Universidad de Concepción and supervised Master theses in Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Moreover, he has served as sponsor in postdoctoral grants from FONDECYT
