    Research interests

    Research interests are focused on the study and development of leading-edge technologies for wastewater treatment, and on the control and monitoring of water quality in natural aquatic systems. In particular, studies consider the structural and functional characteristics of environmental biofilms, membrane-based biological reactors, advanced optical microscopy and mathematical simulation of aquatic processes

    Civil Engineer with a Diploma in Environmental Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a dual PhD degree in Engineering and Environmental Sciences from the University of Notre Dame (USA) and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He worked as lead engineer for environmental consulting projects at DICTUC S.A. and as a research academic at the University of Concepción. Currently, he leads research scientific projects (Fondecyt) and technological development (Fondef Idea I+D), he has published WoS articles in high-impact international journals, is a member of postgraduate programs and works as a Research Academic at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design from San Sebastián University

    Teaching

    The teaching area is related to Hydraulic and Environmental Civil Engineering. Undergraduate courses taught are Fluid Mechanics, Sanitary Engineering, Topics in Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics and Liquid Waste Treatment. Postgraduate courses are Management and Treatment of Water Resources, Principles of Experimental Design, and Bioengineering, Energy and Sustainable Processes
