Organization profile
The Center for Cell Biology and Biomedicine (CEBICEM) of the Faculty of Medicine and Science of Universidad San Sebastian, was inaugurated in June 2017 with the objective of developing scientific research of excellence and promoting a PhD Program with the highest standards in these areas. Installed on the 3rd floor of the South Building of the Los Leones Campus of Universidad San Sebastian, CEBICEM provides open laboratory spaces, facilities with specialized equipment and a suitable and stimulating environment for research in a collaborative manner with a strong stamp on camaraderie. A nucleus of academics with numerous current research projects develops experimental research in cellular and molecular biology oriented to solve biomedical problems, without neglecting the interdisciplinary, incorporating the physiological perspective in murine models, complemented with clinical studies in humans in alliance with clinical fields. CEBICEM's academic activity also contributes to improve undergraduate teaching in related subjects in various careers. The research and training of advanced human capital in the framework of a PhD emphasizes those aspects of cell and molecular biology that present great challenges to knowledge and whose experimental analysis is necessary to understand diseases that require new treatment strategies. It is expected that this knowledge will have a positive impact on people's health and quality of life. CEBICEM plans to increase its influence and leadership in research, teaching and training of advanced human capital, with the aspiration of becoming a national and regional reference in this field.
