Research interests

Microenvironment, endocrinology and metabolism in cancer. Dr. Godoy's laboratory studies the biology of prostate cancer focusing on the following aspects: (i) The role played by male sex hormones (androgens) in the biology of the cells that make up the tumor microenvironment, specifically, in the blood vessels. blood vessels that supply prostate tumor cells; (ii) The role of sugars, specifically fructose, in the growth and progression of prostate cancer; (iii) The potential use of lipid extracts from endemic Chilean algae as a therapeutic strategy against advanced prostate cancer.

Dr. Godoy began his professional career at the Universidad de la Frontera, where he obtained the title of Medical Technologist, with a mention in Clinical Laboratory. Subsequently, he entered the University of Concepción where he completed a Master's degree in Biological Sciences, mentioning Physiology, and a Doctorate in Biological Sciences, mentioning Cellular and Molecular Biology. After this, Dr. Godoy joined the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo NY, USA, as a postdoctoral fellow, where he specialized in Cancer Biology. Dr. Godoy has worked as an academic at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and, currently, at the Universidad San Sebastián.
