Dr. Enrique Brandan completed his doctorate in Cell Biology at P. Universidad Católica de Chile. Postdoctorate at the University of St. Louis and the University of Massachusetts, both in the United States. He was a professor at P. Universidad Católica de Chile (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor). He was an International Scholar at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for 10 years and a Presidential Chair in Sciences. He is a member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences. He is a full professor at Universidad San Sebastián, Faculty of Medicine and Science, and a researcher at Fundación Ciencia y Vida

Teaching

Enrique Brandan holds a degree in Biology from the University of Chile and a Ph.D. in Cellular Biology from the P. Universidad Católica de Chile. He has supervised 20 undergraduate theses and 23 PhD theses. He has been an undergraduate professor in the Cell Biology course at P. Universidad Católica de Chile and postgraduate courses in Cellular Biology and Biomedicine for the Doctorate in Cell Biology and Biomedicine at the Universidad San Sebastián. He is a member of the Committee of the PhD Program in Biotechnology and BIoemprendimiento of the Universidad San Sebastián. He is a member of the Directory of the Transfer and Licensing Office of the Universidad San Sebastián

Research interests

Enrique Brandan is a researcher at the University of San Sebastián, the Faculty of Medicine and Science, and the Science and Life Foundation. His main area of interest is understanding the cellular and molecular bases of fibrosis, which occurs in most chronic diseases. In particular, his interest is focused on the translational medicine of neuromuscular disorders
