Dr. Borgna obtained his Medical Surgeon (MD) degree from the Andrés Bello University in 2009. He completed his doctoral thesis in the laboratory of Dr. Luis Burzio at the Fundación Ciencia & Life, working on non-coding RNA in kidney cancer, obtaining a doctorate in Biotechnology in 2014. Dr. Borgna enters the specialization in Urological Surgery graduating in 2019 from the University of Santiago and subsequently completes a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He currently works as Head of the Uro-Oncology Unit at the Barros Luco Hospital in Santiago.

Dr. Borgna is part of the academic faculty of the Doctorate in Immunology and Microbiology at the San Sebastián University. He has worked academically as a professor in charge of the Research Methodology course at the Andrés Bello University and in the Undergraduate Urology course at the University of Santiago.

Dr. Borgna has worked on the development of therapies against genitourinary cancer, developing xenographic and syngeneic models via subcutaneous and orthotopic routes. He has participated as a co-investigator in FONDEF Projects and in 2019 he obtained a Fondecyt Inicio as a principal investigator. He has dedicated recent years to the study of intratumoral lymphocytes in human kidney cancer and the development of autologous immunotherapies in cancer.
