Research interests

Her main lines of research are the biochemical and cellular aspects related to pregnancy pathologies. Her research has generated 18 indexed publications and more than 20 participations in national and international scientific meetings. She has currently focused on studying the influence of air pollution on vascular and placental function in spontaneous preterm birth. At the same time, she leads an interdisciplinary clinical trial based on mHealth, which seeks to combat obesity in pregnant women who attend primary care centers. In the last 3 years, she has managed 1 ANID Insertion project (2020-2022), 1 FONIS-FONDEF (2021-2023), 1 public policy project financed by the Universidad San Sebastián (2020) and participates as a co-investigator in 1 Fondecyt Regular (2022-2026) and in 1 FAIP project (2022-2023), developed in conjunction with the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural de Chile. At the national level, she collaborates with researchers from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Valparaíso and Universidad de los Andes

Dr. Delia Indira Chiarello completed her Ph.D. in Science with mention in Biochemistry at the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research. Upon completion, she was awarded a postdoctoral FONDECYT project under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Upon completion, she worked as Innovation and Research Advisor at a Digital Transformation company. She then awarded a PAI project sponsored by the School of Medical Technology of the Universidad San Sebastián. Currently, she leads a mHealth project financed by FONDEF and is part of a transdisciplinary project financed by the Patrimonial Research of the National Cultural Heritage Service

Teaching

Delia Chiarello teaches Human Physiopathology, Project Formulation and Molecular Diagnosis II, at the School of Medical Technology of the Faculty of Medicine and Science. She is also a collaborator of the PhD in Cell Biology and Biomedicine and the PhD in Chronic Diseases, and is a member of the faculty of the Master in Molecular Biomedicine at the University of San Sebastian
