Personal profile

Research interests

His research interests are focused on the in silico study of membrane protein's biophysics, with an emphasis on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). His current line of research is framed within the study of the heteromer formed by the dopamine receptor DRD5 and the chemokine receptor CCR9, through protein-protein docking and molecular dynamics simulations, in the context of inflammatory bowel diseases

Personal profile

His academic career has been developed in the area of computational biology, starting with his undergraduate thesis, where he delved into simulations of organic molecules supported on silicon surfaces. He continued to deepen this topic during his PhD, where he collaborated with researchers in the area of experimental physics to develop a biosilicon nanointerface, which involved presentations at international conferences, publications, and a patent application. He recently finished his postdoctoral Fondecyt project, while also serving as the study secretary in the Computational Biology PhD program at our institution and was also recently appointed secretary of the research deparment of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design (FIAD)

Teaching

His teaching area is mainly focused on the activities of the Computational Biology PhD program, where he participates as a collaborating professor in the core course of the program and in some electives, always in the context of molecular dynamics simulations of membrane proteins
