    Research interests

    Currently his research focuses on the combination of structural bioinformatics tools with modern organic synthesis methods and advanced cellular and molecular biology techniques, for the identification and development of new bioactive molecules for the treatment of neurodegenerative, metabolic and infectious diseases. In the last 10 years, he has participated as principal investigator and co-director of a CORFO Project and co-investigator of FONDECYT projects. His research has generated 57 indexed publications, several PCT patent applications, and presentations at national and international conferences. At the national level, it collaborates with researchers from the University of Chile and the Catholic University. At an international level, he collaborates with the University College of London and the Institute Pasteur of France.

    Personal profile

    Dr. Carlos F. Lagos obtained his degree in Pharmaceutical Chemist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2008, and later in 2016 he obtained a doctorate in Biotechnology from the Andrés Bello University (Santiago, Chile). Before joining the Universidad San Sebastián, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Endocrinology of the School of Medicine of the P. Universidad Católica de Chile. He is currently principal investigator of the Laboratory of Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery and professor of Pharmacochemistry at the School of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine and Science.
