    Cristhian Aguilera-Carrasco earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the renowned Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2017. His research efforts have primarily focused on four pivotal areas: computer vision, machine learning, robotics, and education. Beyond his scholarly pursuits, Cristhian is fervently dedicated to exploring the practical applications of computer vision within real-time robotics and industrial environments that utilize GPU technology. Currently, he holds a full-time professorship at the Universidad San Sebastián in Puerto Montt, Chile.

    Teaching

    As a faculty member within the Facultad de Ingeniería, Arquitectura y Diseño, Cristhian primarily instructs engineering students in programming and machine learning courses. Drawing from his experience working in software development companies and conducting research in computer vision, machine learning, and robotics, he effectively imparts his knowledge to the next generation of engineers.

    Research interests

    His primary research direction emphasizes the application of innovative computer vision, machine learning, and robotics techniques to address real-world industrial challenges, particularly within the wood and aquaculture industries. Additionally, he is passionate about narrowing the digital divide in rural education by exploring novel approaches to introduce and teach robotics and artificial intelligence curricula to young children and educators.
