    Dr. Andrea Rivas-Aravena's research is focused on the virology of the infectious pancreatic necrosis virus and other microorganisms that affect aquaculture and on the development of preventive and prophylactic therapies for aquaculture viruses.

    Dr. Andrea Rivas-Aravena is a Biochemist from the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH) and a PhD in Sciences with a mention in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, where she carried out her thesis on the study of the regulation of translation of HIV-1. He completed his postdoctorate subsidized by Fondecyt in the Virology laboratory of the USACH, studying the development of vaccines and antivirals against aquaculture viruses, molecular biology of the ISA virus and development of nanoparticles for the encapsulation of vaccines in aquaculture. Later, she joined the Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission as a researcher where she continued her research. Later, she joined the San Sebastián University as a researcher, in the School of Biochemistry.

    Teaching

    Dr. Andrea Rivas-Aravena teaches courses in the biochemistry major in Molecular Biology and Advanced Biochemistry Laboratory and participates in advanced Molecular Microbiology. In addition, he teaches classes in the Doctorate of Immunology and Microbiology at the San Sebastián University and Fundación Ciencia y Vida, in Microbiology at the USACH and the University of Chile, and in Biotechnology at the USACH.
