    Research interests

    His main line of research is nutrition and public health, with more than 180 articles published in national and international indexed journals and 4 book chapters. Among the topics of greatest interest are non-caloric sweeteners, sleep-obesity, dietary intake, nutrition in older people and dairy consumption. He currently directs an Ibero-American research network together with nutritionists and doctors focusing on nutrition during the pandemic.

    Dr. Samuel Durán Agüero is a Nutritionist from the University of Concepción, and studied his Msc and Ph.D. in Nutrition and Food at the University of Chile. Upon completing his doctoral studies, he entered the San Sebastián University. He had previously worked at other universities such as the Autonomous University and the Universidad del Desarrollo, among others. In parallel, he was elected President of the College of Nutritionists of Chile for 2 consecutive periods, and in the third period he was vice president. In addition, he is a former member of the board of directors of the Chilean Nutrition Society (SOCHINUT), and was part of the editorial team of the Spanish magazine of human nutrition and dietetics. He has been a professor of subjects such as basic nutrition, research methodology, among others. Currently, member of the board of directors of the Ibero-American Nutrition Alliance (AIBAN) and Director of the master's degree in Nutrition in Public Health at the San Sebastián University

    Teaching

    Dr. Samuel Durán Agüero teaches undergraduate courses in the subjects of Research Methodology, Research Work and Nutrition Research, and in postgraduate studies he participates in several subjects of the Master of Nutrition in Public Health and in diploma courses from other universities. He has also been the tutor of at least 10 master's theses and 2 doctoral theses.
