His research focuses on the industrial organization of urban transport and applied econometrics. The first area includes regulation, pricing, and contracts of urban transport services. The second one focuses on discrete choice models and panel data models

He is a civil engineer and holds a master degree in transportation engineering from the University of Chile and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Toulouse, France. He is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Government, Universidad San Sebastián. He has also worked as an advisor to transport consulting companies, public institutions, and international organizations, developing urban and interurban transport planning projects, transport demand modeling, and assessment of transport projects

At the undergraduate level, he has taught courses in probabilities, statistical inference, econometrics, stochastics models, operation research, logistics management, microeconomics, industrial organization, and contract theory. At the graduate level, he has taught transport economics, project evaluation, and cost-benefit analysis
