    Dr. Alexis Candia-Cáceres completed his doctorate in literature at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC). After that, he obtained two postdoctoral fellowships: the first funded by the PUC and the second by the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (currently ANID). Before joining the San Sebastián University, he served as General Director of Research, Academic Coordinator of the Center for Advanced Studies and coordinator of the Doctorate in Contemporary Hispanic American Literature at the University of Playa Ancha. Currently, he is a researcher at the Faculty of Education of the San Sebastián University.

    Alexis Candia-Cáceres is a journalist and has a master's degree in literature from the University of Playa Ancha and a doctorate in literature from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He is a researcher at the Faculty of Education of the San Sebastián University.

    Research interests

    His main lines of research are the study of the literature of Roberto Bolaño in a comparative perspective, eroticism in contemporary Latin American narrative and the urban imaginaries of Valparaíso. On these topics he has published a book, numerous articles in mainstream indexed magazines and several book chapters. He is or has been the researcher responsible for the following research projects: Fondecyt Regular N°1221245, “Valparaíso sublime’: liberalism, immigration and catastrophe in the urban imaginaries of Buenos Aires (1822-1918)”; Regular Fondecyt N°1181787; “Dissidence, overflow and catastrophe in the urban imaginaries of Valparaíso (1914-2014)”; Research Book Fund No. 205565, “The Thousand Forms of Venus in Chilean Narrative,” among others.
