Resumen
The return of protest as an instrument of social mobilization has rendered visible the mechanisms of state repression employed to respond to it. One of the most employed among these mechanisms, but at the same time one of the least critically examined, is the use of tear gas. This article analyzes the characteristics of this product, the national and international existing norms that regulate it, and offers a categorization of recent judicial decisions that have dealt with this chenical product.
