Abstract

Latin American viticultural firms are facing increased challenges, such as climate change, environmental issues, and a global and more competitive market. One way to face these challenges is through investment supporting sustainability, pursuing a sustainable competitive advantage, and improving business performance. Globally, sustainability frameworks have been steadily created through programs or certifications at national or regional levels in different wine-producing countries. However, the state of the art of sustainability frameworks of Latin American major wine producers is poorly documented. In this chapter, an overview of the sustainability of major Latin American producers is presented. Then the specific development level of sustainability of Latin American viticultural firms is covered, analysing the main differences between them. Finally, some conclusions and future perspectives about the subject were presented.
