Abstract
Objective: To compare sleep quality, nutritional status in smokers and nonsmokers according to in university students. Methodology: Cross-sectional design in 370 students from San Sebastian University. Weight, height and BMI were determined. To evaluate sleep quality was applied; The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Insomnia Severity Index, and Epworth Sleepiness Scale. In addition to a simple survey to identify smoking. Results: Most students had normal nutritional status. 32.7% of women and 27.9% of men reported smoking. Smoking only; Women had higher BMI and insomnia score, and greater daytime drownisses versus non-smokes. Difficulty breathing was more prevalent in smokers of both sexes. Conclusions: Smoking was a prevalent condition. Tobacco users had a higher BMI and presented greater insomnia and daytime sleepiness in the sample.
