Project Details

Description

The general objective is to make an original contribution to the historical study of totalitarian illiberal modernities through in-depth research of the comparisons, cultural exchanges and interactions that emerge from the Italian Fascist representations and reception of Stalinism during the study period. Fascism, in popular memory and in historiography, has seemed more benign than Stalinism or Nazism, precluding a deeper understanding of the very real connections, cultural exchanges, interactions and representations that existed between Fascism and Stalinism between 1928 and 1936.
