    Sociologist, MA in Urban Development and PhD in Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London. Ricardo researches elite issues, new ruralities, racism, visualities, extractivism and domestic objects, and has produced articles, exhibitions, videos and short films. His latest books are Lawner (Bifurcaciones, 2022), Crónicas Alienígenas (Aparte, 2022) and La Zona Marker (Calabaza del Diablo, 2022). He is the director of the urban studies publishing house Bifurcaciones, the audiovisual platform CinEducación and the chrono-photographic project Esto Es Talca, as well as a founding member of the collective Cosas Maravillosas. He has taught in Chile, Argentina, Germany, England and Uruguay, and carried out research residencies at institutions such as the Universidad Iberoamericana de México and the University of Ghana. He is an Associate Researcher at Universidad San Sebastián, Patagonia.

    Teaching

    In the field of undergraduate teaching he has taught courses on culture and urban history, qualitative research methods, research seminar, epistemology, and culture, among others. In postgraduate teaching he has participated as a lecturer in the Masters in Architecture and Cultural Heritage UC, Masters in Socio-spatial Practices UDLA, Masters in Sociology UAH, Masters in Anthropology UAH and Masters in research methods UDP, in courses such as degree project, urban theory and audiovisual research methodologies.

    Research interests

    He currently leads and participates in research projects on: new ruralities, land fragmentation, nature, spiritualities and reverse migration; extractivism, sacrifice zones, and the global copper market; Latin American migration, stigma and political organisation; and material culture, sustainability and domestic spaces.
