Personal profile

Personal profile

He is a structural engineer and researcher in steel structures and seismic performance. He is a Civil Engineer from the University of Carabobo, Venezuela, and a Master in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Católica Santa Concepción, Chile. He has research experience in steel structures, performance-based design and BIM, with more than 11 papers published in Q1 and Q2 journals, as well as multiple papers in International conferences. In addition, he has extensive teaching experience in areas of steel structures, structural analysis, reinforced concrete, seismic engineering, pre-stressed concrete, among others. Likewise, he has more than 10 years of experience as a designer, structural and seismic reviewer.

Teaching

Extensive experience as a teacher in the fields of steel structures, seismic engineering, reinforced concrete and seismic design (among others) in different national and international universities. My goals are to be able to take all the research to an undergraduate level, so that students can participate in the products obtained while learning. In addition, the knowledge generated from research is brought to students to strengthen their learning.

Research interests

His research is focused on topics in steel structures and seismic engineering with three main areas. The first is related to the performance of residential, industrial and special structures against earthquakes, to verify and propose improvements to the seismic design parameters of the different standards. The second addresses the experimental and finite element analysis of connections between steel and composite elements. The third is related to soil-structure interaction issues and its influence on the seismic performance of structural systems. Finally, it has a research area referring to BIM methodology and its application in structures.
