Personal profile

After graduating as a Kinesiologist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Dr. Patricia Vargas obtained a double scholarship to complete a Master's Degree in Motor Sciences at the Paris-11 University and a Doctorate in Neurosciences at the Paris-6 University, both in France. Subsequently, he obtained a FONDECYT Postdoctoral fellowship to work in the Laboratory of Brain-Machine Interfaces and Neuromodulation and the Center for Biomedical Imaging, both at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, mainly on non-invasive technologies for brain stimulation in patients with stroke. Currently, she is a Teacher-Researcher at the School of Kinesiology at the San Sebastián University.

Research interests

Being a Kinesiologist and Neuroscientist, her interest focuses on the study of different rehabilitation methods, whether clinical approaches, non-invasive brain stimulation technologies or interactive medical devices, which allow improving, complementing or accelerating the rehabilitation process of patients with neurological damage. . This perspective considers a look from the in-hospital period to outpatient rehabilitation or in the patient's own home, regardless of their age and clinical diagnosis.

Teaching

With Neuroscience as a base discipline, the clinical experience acquired along the way and after several years working with high-level scientific research teams, Dr. Vargas' teaching approach considers these 3 perspectives to unite science, clinical practice and research. Its main objective is to promote the learning of skills and the acquisition of knowledge and tools that enhance reasoning and evidence-based clinical practice, in addition to the search and creation of new and better methods to help in the rehabilitation of patients.
