Research interests

Her research focus is attachment and emotion regulation in parents and their children, with special emphasis on neurobiological processes in parenting and development. Her academic interests include the interplay between nature and nurture, exploring and testing the ‘differential susceptibility’ model, hormonal correlates of parenting, in particular in fathers, and interventions.

Marian Bakermans-Kranenburg is currently a full professor at Universidad San Sebastián and ISPA Lisbon.  She is also a visiting scholar and research associate at the Center for Attachment Research, The New School for Social Research, New York, and visiting professor at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technical University, in Singapore. In the past 30 years she has been affiliated with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Section Clinical Child and Family Studies, and with Leiden University.

Teaching

Marian Bakermans-Kranenburg, teaches in the PhD program in Psychology and Mental Health, specifically in a Meta-analysis course.
