    Research interests

    His research focuses on the study of the pathology and molecular epidemiology of endemic pathogens that affect aquaculture, specifically viral diseases. Currently, one of the projects in which he is working is the Molecular Epidemiology of the Infectious Salmon Anemia Virus.

    Marcos Godoy G. has a long history in the Chilean aquaculture industry, he has participated in diagnostic equipment, services, research and development in the area of ​​fish and mollusk health of companies and research centers. He participated in the Fundación Chile team, becoming Technical Manager of the Aqua Gestión team when it initially emerged as a subsidiary service company of that institution. After this, he worked at Intervet Chile, as Technical Manager, always linked to Research and Development programs, now in the field of vaccines. Since 2007 he has been the Technical Manager of Biovac, where he works as part of a multidisciplinary team in Instrumental Chemistry Laboratories, Food Microbiology and Fish and Mollusk Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. During 2007, together with Biovac professionals , Marine Harvest and Sernapesca, among others, managed to diagnose, isolate and characterize Infectious Salmon Anemia for the first time in Chile. In these roles he has learned in the field the health issues of importance for new species such as abalone and flatfish and in recent years, especially salmon farming where he has worked to strengthen knowledge, develop networks and from where he has a comprehensive vision of the health situation. Marcos Godoy G. is a Marine Biologist and Veterinarian from the Universidad Austral de Chile.
