    Personal profile

    Research interests

Dr. Marco Soto Arriaza has focused his interest on physicochemical and biophysical properties of lipid bilayers using liposomes as study systems to evaluate the effect of cholesterol, peptides, polymers, alcohols, and other molecules of biological importance. Dr. Soto Arriaza seeks to determine how different liposomes, in presence of these additives, determine the encapsulation, transport and release of different molecules, focusing their studies on different systems that allow stabilization and functionalization of liposomes to be used as transporter systems for molecules of biological importance, for example, antineoplastic drugs, protein, nucleic acid, etc. In this line of research, Dr. Soto Arriaza seeks to study the stabilization of liposomes with biodegradable and amphipathic di- and tri-block copolymers

    Personal profile

Dr. Marco Soto Arriaza is a Biochemist and has a PhD in Sciences with a major in Chemistry Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (Valparaíso, Chile). After that, he completed a post-doctorate position at the Center for Scientific Studies under the sponsorship of Dr. Eduardo Lissi Gervaso, Presidential Chair Award and Dr. Ramón Latorre de la Cruz, National Natural Sciences Award. In 2002 he joined the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso as a Researcher in the Molecular Spectroscopy and Photophysics Laboratory of Chemistry Institute and as a professor of Biochemistry at the University of Viña del Mar. In 2005 he joined the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile developing research in biophysics of lipid membranes and liposomes area and as a professor of Biochemistry until 2022, when he joins the academic staff of Chemistry and Pharmacy School of Medicine and Science Faculty of San Sebastián University
