    Personal profile

    Research interests

Dr. Marcela Low has conducted research in various areas and biological models, providing her with a broad and diverse perspective on scientific endeavors. She has studied the molecular pathways that regulate the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells in skeletal muscle, which directly impacts the understanding of fibrosis occurrence following injuries, diseases, or age-related changes. Additionally, she has worked on bacterial and plant models, investigating how they respond to environmental stressors such as changes in gene expression in the presence of metals or certain pathogens

    Personal profile

Dr. Marcela Low studied Biochemistry at Universidad de Concepción. She completed her doctoral studies in Biological Sciences, specifically in the field of Cellular and Molecular Biology, at the same university. She then pursued two postdoctoral positions, the first at INTA, Universidad de Chile, and the second at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Low has also been involved in teaching at various universities in the country. Her main research interests focus on topics such as stem cells, skeletal muscle fibrosis, and cellular response of different biological models to environmental stress

    Teaching

Marcela Low is a Biochemist and holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, specializing in Cellular and Molecular Biology, with postdoctoral experience in both Chile and Canada. Her expertise as a scientist has allowed her to share her knowledge with students through lectures and laboratory work in various subjects within the field of biological sciences. She has taught classes at Universidad San Sebastián (Puerto Montt) and Universidad Autónoma (Temuco). She has experience teaching subjects such as Biochemistry, Human Physiology, and Cellular Biology for different healthcare-related programs
