Maria Soledad Kappes is a Nurse & Midwife from the University of Valparaiso. She holds a Master's degree in Medical Sciences with a specialization in hospital-acquired infections and hospital epidemiology and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Barcelona. She worked for 20 years as a clinical nurse and head nurse in critical care units at several highly complex hospitals. During that time, she completed several specialization courses in the area of Intensive Medicine, including her certification as an advanced cardiac care provider by the American Heart Association. In 2012, she joined the academic field, first at the Nursing School of the Universidad San Sebastian, and later as a professor in the Diploma program at the Pontifical Catholic University's Nursing School

Currently, she works as a research professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences. She teaches courses at the 7th and 8th levels in Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice, where she provides students with input on how to incorporate research into the field of nursing, drawing from her own experience as a researcher. She also teaches in the Master's program in Advanced Nursing Practice with a specialization in Critical Care
