    Research interests

    Karla Pozo has more than twenty years of work experience in the field of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). In the last ten years she has studied large-scale transport processes of POPs and also the behavior of aquatic ecosystems such as rivers and bays in central Chile and the impacts of plastic pollution on biotic and abiotic compartments. Karla Pozo is co-author of more than 100 publications; she actively collaborates with national and international institutions.

    Personal profile

    Karla Pozo obtained her PhD from the University of Siena in Italy (UNISI). In 2004, she completed a postdoc in the air quality branch of Environment Canada in the city of Toronto, Canada. From 2007 to 2012 she carried out academic and research activities in the Department of Environmental Sciences at UNISI. Dr. Pozo joined RECETOX-Masaryk University in 2012, and since 2018 she is part of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the USS in Concepción. She has strongly contributed to the knowledge about the atmospheric transport of pollutants in different continents.

    Teaching

    Karla Pozo is currently a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design of the Universidad San Sebastián de Concepción. She has taught courses on environmental pollution, integrated water resources management, research seminars and the advanced applied English course.
