    Personal profile

Jesus Ramirez is a Chemical Engineer and Magister Scientiarum in Corrosion from the University of Zulia, Venezuela. He obtained his Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Concepción, where he was a FONDEF Project Researcher and Professor. In undergraduate and master's degrees, he dedicated himself to the kinetic and thermodynamic study of the behavior of materials to corrosion, mechanism, and protection systems. During the PhD, he specialized in the design of advanced sustainable materials, modeling, characterization, and evaluation. Dr. Ramirez is co-author of fifteen scientific articles (WOS), three patents, two book chapters and advisor of 5 undergraduate theses..

    Teaching

According to his academic training and expertise in Industrial Technical Assistance - Research Projects, he is currently a Teacher-Researcher at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design of the San Sebastián University, Concepción headquarters. Teaching the classes: Chemistry, Science, Strength of Materials and Hydrometallurgical Processes which are relevant in the formation of the students. Chemistry is a fundamental part of the various Hydrometallurgical Processes since it provides the theoretical-practical foundations through which chemical reactions occur. Materials Science and Strength provides knowledge and tools to characterize and develop materials that withstand the extreme conditions of these Hydrometallurgical Processes..

    Research interests

His lines of research are: Corrosion study and determination of the root cause of failure in industrial sectors (pulp and paper, fishing, petrochemical, mining, solar, among others), mechanical behavior and protection methods (inhibitors, cathodic protection and coatings). Production of sustainable materials, developing new materials from recycled steels using thermodynamic modeling, characterization, and evaluation (circular economy). Renewable energies production of catalysts, storage systems for the generation of green hydrogen. Biomaterials development of biocompatible and resistant materials for applications in the health area
