Research interests

Our group is interested in studying the impact of neurotransmission in energy homeostasis of astrocytes in health and disease. For this, we use several techniques involving real-time imaging of energy metabolites in brain tissue of wild type and genetically modified animals.

Dr. Iván Ruminot completed his PhD in Cellular and Molecular biology at Universidad Austral de Chile & Centro de Estudios Científicos in Valdivia, Chile. Upon completion, he was offered and undertook two Postdoctoral Fellowships; firstly at the Department of Biology at Kaiserslautern University (Kaiserslautern, Germany) and secondly at the Department of Biology at Centro de Estudios Científicos (CECs, Valdivia, Chile). Currently Dr. Ruminot is senior investigator and lecturer at CECs and Universidad San Sebastián (Valdivia, Chile).

Teaching

Iván Ruminot is Biochemist and PhD in Cellular and Molecular biology at Universidad Austral de Chile & Centro de Estudios Científicos (Valdivia, Chile). He teaches pathophysiology at the Facultad de Ciencias para el Cuidado de la Salud of the Universidad San Sebastián, Valdivia. He is also a member of the Biosafety Committee of the Centro de Estudios Científicos.
