Its main interest is to develop murine models genetically modified by gene editing techniques that can be used to contribute to understanding the physiological and pathophysiological role of various proteins such as, for example, ion channels and transporters.

Isabel Cornejo graduated as a Medical Technologist from the University of Talca to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from the same university two years later. She has worked in the Biophysics and Molecular Physiology laboratory of the Center for Scientific Studies (CECs, Valdivia) to later obtain the degree of Doctor of Science with a mention in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia. Later she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Innovation Engineering (CIN) associated with the CECs and is currently a Researcher at the San Sebastián University (Valdivia) and the CECs.

Given his performance in the development of molecular techniques for the pathophysiological study of proteins, he will work as a teacher in subjects such as Human Pathophysiology and molecular diagnosis in the Medical Technology degree.
