    Guillermo Valenzuela Nieto, holds the professional degree of Biochemist, obtained at the Universidad Austral de Chile, and the degree of Doctor of Science (U. Austral de Chile) and Dr. Rer. Nat. (U. Regensburg, Germany) in the framework of a double degree program. Developing research in the area of molecular biology and expression regulation. Subsequently, he completed two postdoctorates focusing on the area of biotechnology, generating numerous patents related to the development of nanobodies.

    Teaching

    He currently teaches Epidemiology and Research at the School of Nursing, taking advantage of his experience in the development and study of emerging viral pathogens and in the participation and management of research projects.

    Research interests

    He currently focuses his research on the development of biotechnological tools for the study, diagnosis and control of human pathogens, mainly emerging viruses and parasites, as well as others relevant to aquaculture and the productive sector. He also maintains numerous collaborations with national and foreign laboratories where he contributes in the study of diverse biological phenomena from molecular biology.
