    Francisco Sáez obtained his doctorate degree in Biological Sciences at Universidad de Concepción, in Chile. Later, he did a postdoctoral training at the Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium, with a Becas Chile scholarship. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Science in the Universidad San Sebastián (USS). He participates as a professor of human physiology and is part of the teaching body of Medical Technology.

    Research interests

    Dr. Sáez has a great interest in neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer’s disease, and how the metabolism of saturated fatty acids can interact with the Amyloid Precursor Protein, and promote the development of the pathology, and the effect of saturated fatty acids on normal neuronal function.
