Dr. Izaurieta obtained his Doctor in Physical Sciences degree from the University of Concepción. He then pursued several postdoctoral positions at the University of Valencia, the University of Valladolid, and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He served as a faculty member at UCSC and UdeC, where he led the Master's program in Science with a major in Physics. Dr. Izaurieta has engaged in scientific outreach through projects such as creating a book on black holes (published by Planeta), numerous television appearances and videos on social media, and numerous articles for the general public in various written media.

Dr. Izaurieta teaches as part of the Department of Exact Sciences at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design at the Universidad San Sebastián, where he teaches courses in the field of Physics.

Dr. Izaurieta is dedicated to research and dissemination in theoretical physics and astrophysics. His research, published in numerous international scientific journals, focuses on Einstein's general theory of relativity, black holes, cosmology, gravitational waves, and supergravity in higher dimensions. He has been the principal investigator of three FONDECYT projects and a co-investigator in two of them, and has supervised numerous master's and doctoral theses.
