His research focuses mainly on construction technologies (Construction 4.0), Lean Construction, and everything related to Engineering Education.

Dr. Eric Forcael completed his PhD in Construction Engineering and Management at the University of Florida, USA. After completing his PhD, he went for a postdoctoral internship at the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering, University of Colorado at Boulder, USA. Before joining Universidad San Sebastián, he was Director of the PhD Program in Engineering in a consortium between the Universities of La Frontera, Bio-Bio, and Talca, Chile. He has been the Principal Investigator (P.I.) and Co-Investigator (Co-P.I.) of ANID projects (Fondecyt Regular, Fondequip, Improvement Grant for Ph.D. programs). Today, he is a Full Professor and Director of the PhD Program in Engineering at the Universidad San Sebastián, Chile.

Dr. Forcael teaches subjects related to his lines of research. At the undergraduate level, he teaches subjects such as Construction Techniques and Processes, among others. He also participates in teaching Diploma, Master's, and Doctorate programs at the Universidad San Sebastián, Chile. He has vast experience in engineering education, with several publications in it. He is the author of the book How Do We Teach Engineering? Teaching Paradigms and Strategies for University Professors.
