Eduardo Fuentes has a PhD in Philosophy from Universidad de los Andes. He is a political philosopher working on toleration, political respect, political representation, and public deliberation. He also has worked on social ontology and political epistemology. He has been a researcher at Universidad Católica de Temuco, Universidad del Desarrollo, and Universidad San Sebastián. He is charge of the research proyect Fondecyt de Iniciación 11230139 “Pluralismo y tolerancia. Un marco respetuoso de tolerancia active”. Since october 2023, he is the director of the Institute of Philosophy at Universidad San Sebastián.
Teaching
At Universidad San Sebastián, he currently teaches philosophical anthropology, political philosophy and ethics. He has also taught graduate courses on Contemporary and Classical political philosophy, Kant’s ethics, and Modern epistemology.
Research interests
He is interested in all areas of political philosophy, particularly toleration, political representation, political respect, and public deliberation. He is also interested in studying how epistemology and metaphysics bear on political and social philosophy.
He is now working on several papers: on the way insurance impacts on the respect due to citizens in a democracy, toleration as a respectful regime, and transcendental deductions of (normative) market prices.
