    Research interests

    His main lines of research are the history, theory and criticism of architecture and the city, built heritage, vernacular architecture and in particular the built reality of the native peoples of Chile, both in the heritage field and in the current contemporary reality. . He is currently the researcher responsible for the Fondecyt Initiation project nº11200286, where he delves into the Aymara cultural relevance in social housing programs in the city of Arica.

    Personal profile

    Dr. Diego González obtained his PhD from the University of Sheffield in England in 2016, having previously qualified as an architect from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He carried out postdoctoral research in this same university through the award of the Fondecyt Postdoctoral project (nº3170348, 2017-2020), continuing the path of research on indigenous vernacular architecture in Chile, with a Fondecyt Initiation project (nº11200286, 2021 -2024). He was an adjunct academic at the UC School of Architecture and prior to joining the San Sebastián University he worked as a full academic at the Universidad Católica del Norte.

    Teaching

    In the field of undergraduate teaching he has concentrated on the lines of history, theory and criticism of architecture and the city, along with experience in degree workshops. In postgraduate studies, he has participated as a teacher in the master's degrees in Architecture and Cultural Heritage UC and in Arid Zones UCN, where he has developed chairs on Vernacular Architecture and Indigenous Built Heritage on topics linked to his research areas. In the doctorate FADEU UC taught the Thesis Seminar course. Currently at the School of Architecture of the San Sebastián University he teaches the Title and Title Preliminary Project Workshops.
