    Personal profile

    Research interests

He began his line of research in fish physiology, specifically in the general immunology of Eleginops maclovinus, then extended his research to models of Antarctic fish such as Notothenia rossii, Notothenia coriiceps and Harpagifer antarcticus. Currently, he is developing his line of research within the framework of his Fondecyt-Postdoctoral Project No. 3200418 that evaluates nutritional immunity in Salmo salar (salmon species most cultivated by Chilean salmon farming) challenged with Piscirickettsia salmonis and Renibacterium salmoninarum (bacterial pathogens that cause high mortality in Chilean salmon farming). In parallel, it also evaluates the physiological status of Salmo salar stimulated with Piscirickettsia salmonis and identification of immunological biomarkers under in vitro coinfection conditions.

    Personal profile

Dr. Danixa Martínez studied Marine Biology at the Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia campus. Upon completion, he completed his doctorate in Aquaculture Sciences at the same university, Puerto Montt. Subsequently, he awarded the Fondecyt-Postdoctoral Project that evaluated nutritional immunity in fish of aquaculture importance challenged with pathogens of relevance to salmon farming, which was executed at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of the Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia headquarters. Currently, she joined the USS Patagonia campus as an Academic-Researcher in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, Patagonia campus.

    Teaching

Teacher in the Research Methodology, Microbiology Internship, General Microbiology Practical and Veterinary Immunology courses taught for students of the Veterinary Medicine career. At the same time, she works as a researcher in the Institutional Laboratory where she develops her Postdoctoral research. The union of teaching and research has allowed it to encourage scientific training in its students, contemplating their incorporation into experimental work for the development of their degree reports that could be published in prestigious scientific journals. This would increase the possibility of its students being awarded postgraduate scholarships that promote their professional development.
