Research interests
Dr. Cristina Perdomo's research focuses on the co-design, usability and acceptance of Assistive Technologies and older adults, seeking to promote aging in place with technologies and adaptations focused on the needs of older adults. Her research also explores the therapeutic benefits of Robotherapy and the use of Robot pets to support the care and attention of older people with cognitive impairment.
Personal profile
Cristina Perdomo Delgado obtained her degree in Occupational Therapist from the University of Salamanca, Spain. She has a master’s degree in public services and social policies from the University of Salamanca and a master’s degree in occupational risk Prevention from the International University of La Rioja, Spain. She obtained her PhD degree in Assistive Technology Design at the Universidade Estadual Paulista, Brazil, funded by the Ibero-American Postgraduate University Association (AUIP). During her doctoral studies, she registered “MeCuido” App design for older adults with the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil with registration number: BR512020002590-0. She completed a postdoctoral degree in the department of Occupational Therapy in the area of Assistive Technologies for older adults at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Since 2018, she has been responsible for the Research Department and responsible for the Project “Accessible and functional home through assistive technologies” subsidized by the Government of the Canary Islands in the Acufade Association, Spain
Teaching
Dr. Cristina Perdomo teaches classes in the
certificate program in Occupational Therapy: New Practices in Orthotics. She also teaches undergraduate classes for Occupational Therapy students in the subjects of: Research Seminars, Fundamentals of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy in the Older Adults.
