His research is focused on neuronal circuits and synaptic plasticity in learning and memory processes. He has focused on how light-dark cycles modify synaptic plasticity processes during the circadian cycle and how this, in turn, affects learning and memory processes. He has participated as a postdoctoral researcher in projects sponsored by the CNRS (France) and NIH (USA).

He is a research professor at the Faculty of Dentistry and Rehabilitation Sciences of the Universidad San Sebastián. He holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Santiago de Chile, a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences with a major in Pathophysiology from the University of Chile, a Kinesiologist and a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. Before joining the Universidad San Sebastián, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at John Hopkins University (2019-2024) and the Université Paris Descartes (2018-2019). He completed his research studies at University College London (2017). CNRS, NIH, and ANID have funded these investigations.

His undergraduate education focuses on neurophysiology, human physiology, pathophysiology, and biophysics courses.
