    Cristhian Aguilera-Carrasco obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the renowned Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2017. His research efforts have mainly focused on four core areas: computer vision, machine learning, robotics and education. Beyond his academic activities, Cristhian is fervently devoted to exploring the practical applications of computer vision within real-time robotics and industrial environments using GPU technology. He currently holds a full-time professorship at Universidad San Sebastian in Puerto Montt, Chile.

    Teaching

    As a faculty member at the School of Engineering, Architecture and Design, Cristhian primarily instructs engineering students in programming and machine learning courses. From his experience working in software development companies and conducting research in computer vision, machine learning and robotics, he effectively imparts his knowledge to the next generation of engineers.

    Research interests

    His main research direction emphasizes the application of innovative computer vision, machine learning, and robotics techniques to address real-world industrial challenges, particularly within the woodworking and aquaculture industries. In addition, he is passionate about bridging the digital divide in rural education by exploring novel approaches to introduce and teach robotics and artificial intelligence curricula to young children and educators.
