Personal profile

Research interests

Her research focuses on various mechanisms of regulation of proliferation and migration of normal or tumor epithelial cells, relevant to finding therapeutic targets for different carcinomas. She is interested in evaluating how metabolic reprogramming influences these cellular processes. Currently, she is studying how a mitochondrial localization and function protein (HADHA) acquires a dual function and localization; in particular, she is studying the pathway of insertion into the plasma membrane and the function of the gastrin binding protein (GBP) on the cell surface. Specifically, her interest is in associating the relocation of this protein with changes in cellular metabolism under different stimuli. She has been the principal investigator in the Fondecyt Initiation Project 11181015 "GASTRIN BINDING PROTEIN AS A NOVEL TARGET OF PATHOGENIC ANTI-RIBOSOMAL P AUTOANTIBODIES IN TUMORAL CELLS"

Personal profile

Claudia Oyanadel holds a degree in Biochemistry from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC) and a PhD in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the same university. She worked as a researcher at CARE UC in a postdoctoral position. She taught the courses Cellular Biology and Physiology, Disciplinary and Didactic Dimension, and Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, Disciplinary and Didactic Dimension for Pedagogy in Biological Sciences at Alberto Hurtado University. She is currently an assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Science at the Universidad San Sebastian, where she works as a researcher in the Center for Cellular Biology and Biomedicine Research (CEBICEM), collaborating professor in the Doctorate Program in Cellular Biology and Biomedicine of the Faculty of Medicine and Science, and as a teaching member of the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences. She oversees the course on Cellular Biology for health-related careers and the General Biochemistry course for the Biochemistry major

Teaching

Dr. Oyanadel teaches undergraduate courses in Cellular Biology and Biochemistry for Biochemistry and Chemical Sciences majors. In postgraduate studies, she teaches in the courses of Cellular Biology and Biomedicine, where she teaches about mitochondrial biogenesis and its relationship with cell migration processes in different cellular contexts
