Research interests

The research is fundamentally centered on the study of systems that present a nonlinear dynamic. Being them physical systems like the propagation of ultra-short laser pulses over optical fibers and the turbulence present in fluid dynamics, as well as complex systems that analyze the collective behavior of large human groups, such as the disorders observed during the "Estallido Social" in Chile during 2019. All these phenomena can be studied using different tools, whether data science, which gives us valuable information about the subject of study, or numerical simulations using agent based models and partial differential equations, which allow us to predict the future behavior of the studied subjects.

Personal profile

Physicist graduated with the degrees of Bachelor and Master in Science from the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Chile. He obtained the Diplome d'Etudes Approfondis and the doctorate in Physics from the University Paris VI and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, France. He also held post-doctoral positions at Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels Belgium and the Universidad de los Andes, Chile. Previously he was professor at Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias Aplicadas at Universidad de los Andes, Chile. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor at Facultad de Ingeniería, Arquitectura y Diseño in Universidad San Sebastián.
