Dr. Carlos Isler studied law and philosophy, and then he got a Ph.D. in Law in 2015 at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in 2023. Since 2006, he has taught several courses and done research on subjects related to philosophy of law, ethics and political philosophy at various universities in Chile. He has received scholarships from various institutions such as DAAD, Campus France, U.S. State Department, Amexcid and Conicyt.

Carlos Isler teaches philosophical foundations of law and professional ethics at the Law School of Universidad San Sebastián
Research interests
His main lines of research are the philosophical foundations of human rights, the relationship between law and morality, the political philosophy of Thomas Hobbes, Thomas Aquinas and Francisco de Vitoria, and the contemporary reception of the philosophy of Aquinas. He was in charge of the Fondecyt de Iniciación 11150285 research project, entitled "The philosophical foundations of contract theory in Thomas Hobbes" (2015-2017)
