    He has research interests in several areas of bioethics, including the philosophical foundations of bioethics, the ethics of research in developing countries, animal ethics, medical ethics, and the ethics of priority-setting of scarce resources

    He is a physician, philosopher, and MA in Cognitive Studies. He also holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Sheffield, UK. He was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Department of Bioethics, National Institutes of Health, US. He has experience as a family physician in private and public health centers, as well as experience as an academic at the Universidad del Desarrollo and the Universidad de Chile
