Personal profile

Professor Anthony Marcotti Fernández is currently pursuing his doctoral studies in Psychology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He holds a Master's degree in Audiology from the Universidad Andrés Bello and has completed Diplomas in Clinical Audiology, Statistical Methods for Health Sciences Research, and Construction, Validation, and Analysis of Health Questionnaires, all from the Universidad de Chile. He also has Diplomas in Gerontogeriatric Speech Therapy from the Universidad de Valparaíso and Advanced Biostatistics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He received his degree in Speech Therapy from the Universidad de Valparaíso and is currently a Research Professor at the School of Speech Therapy at the Universidad San Sebastián

Research interests

The researcher's interests focus on the study of speech perception in the presence of background noise and its relationships with psychological, cognitive, and social aspects. Specifically, he is developing a line of research on the influence of socioeconomic level and intelligence on auditory information processing at the brainstem and cortical levels. Additionally, he has focused on the study of group communicative rehabilitation programs for adult individuals with hearing loss and their effects on adherence to hearing aid use, self-perception of benefit with hearing aids, quality of life, and cognition. In his work, he has used psychoacoustic techniques, auditory electrophysiology techniques, neuropsychological tests, and health questionnaires

Teaching

Professor Marcotti has a broad background in teaching and research, having worked for the past 10 years in different higher education institutions. His teaching specialty is focused on the fields of hearing, balance, auditory neuroscience, and statistical techniques applied to research in social and health sciences. Currently, he provides clinical teaching for Speech-Language Pathology students who are completing their professional internship. Additionally, he participates as a guest lecturer in various graduate and postgraduate programs
