Andrés Silva is an agricultural engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a master's degree from Texas A&M in the United States and a doctorate from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom. His area of ​​interest is people's behavior with respect to food purchasing/consumption and the evaluation of related programs. His line of research is food sustainability, in particular, the consumption of fruits and vegetables, food security and food waste. He is the researcher responsible for a FONDECYT project on food waste, and for his research he collaborates with researchers in Chile and abroad.

Andrés Silva teaches courses related to the training of researchers, in quantitative techniques, with interest in the area of ​​nutrition and public health. Additionally, Andrés teaches courses related to food sustainability.

His research can be encompassed within food sustainability, in particular, fruit and vegetable consumption, food security and food waste. Their research work is based on data analysis, mainly from public surveys, and secondly, surveys directed according to the needs of the project.
