    Psychologist from SEK University, Master in Functional Analysis and PhD in Psychology with European mention from the University of Almeria (Spain), he obtained a postdoctoral bridge scholarship at the same university. Afterwards, he developed a project to support the return of researchers from abroad at the Pontificia Universidad Católica. He was an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Austral de Chile. Currently, he is a Researcher at the Faculty of Psychology and Humanities of the Universidad San Sebastián in Valdivia. Alvaro is Deputy Director of the Millennium Nucleus to Improve the Mental Health of Adolescents and Youths (Imhay) and adjunct researcher at the MIDAP Millennium Institute

    Teaching

    He teaches research projects and clinical intervention (lab) at the undergraduate level. At the same time, he is part of the PhD program in Psychology and Mental Health to be implemented at the Universidad San Sebastián. He collaborates as a guest lecturer in postgraduate teaching in the area of mindfulness and third generation cognitive-behavioral therapies in national and international institutions

    Research interests

    Dr. Langer is interested in studying the benefits of mindfulness and compassion in clinical and educational contexts. He is also exploring their role in connecting with nature. Of particular interest has been the analysis of psychotic experiences in people with and without a mental health diagnosis, and the application of mindfulness in people with psychosis. Alvaro, studies the effect of mindfulness on the well-being of teachers and high school students as well as the effect of the connection with nature on the mental health of young people. He is interested in interdisciplinary work in mental health
