    Research interests

His main line of research is based on the study of symmetries in gravitational theories and gauge theories. Determining the symmetries that a certain physical system has is vital to understanding many of its properties, and is in turn of fundamental importance when building a quantum theory. This turns out to be particularly relevant in the case of theories that resist being quantized, such as General Relativity. In particular, the conserved quantities, which are a direct consequence of the presence of symmetries, allow us to determine properties as fundamental as energy, as well as to study objects as relevant as black holes and their thermodynamic properties.

    Personal profile

He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Concepción, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences in 2005, and was awarded the Universidad de Concepción award for being the most outstanding student of his generation. He subsequently entered the Doctorate program at said University, obtaining in an intermediate stage the Master's degree in 2008. He developed his doctoral thesis between 2008 and 2010 at the Max Planck Institut for Gravitationsphysik - Albert Einstein Institut in Potsdam, Germany with a DAAD-CONICYT scholarship for co-tutorship, obtaining the degree of Doctor in 2010. He then completed a postdoctorate between 2010-2014 at the Center for Scientific Studies (CECs). Between 2014 and 2019 he worked as a young researcher at the CECs, and finally as a senior researcher starting in 2019 at the same institution.
