Research interests

His interests focus on the study of interaural differences (asymmetries) in peripheral and subcortical auditory processing associated with the aging process and how such asymmetries can affect the ability to perceive speech in acoustically complex situations. Likewise, it has focused on the research of evaluation strategies and development of behavioral psychoacoustic tests that allow studying how adults and older people process auditory information. Expert in electrophysiological techniques for exploring the auditory system and cognitive evaluation techniques, which has allowed us to understand how cognition interacts with the auditory system in speech perception difficulties.

Dr. Alejandro Ianiszewski Gómez obtained his PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Mention in Aging Sciences, at the University of Montréal (Canada). He has a Master's Degree in Language Disorders from the University of Talca. Diploma in Clinical Audiology and Legal Medical Evaluator from the University of Chile. Certified speech therapist from the Universidad Mayor. Currently, he is a Research Professor at the School of Speech Therapy at the San Sebastián University.

Teaching

Dr. Ianiszewski has developed an academic career linked to teaching and with an important commitment to the theoretical-practical training of his students. As a teacher, he has specialized in the area of ​​audiology and balance, focusing on the implementation of audiological/vestibular evaluation and diagnosis protocols based on scientific evidence. Currently, he teaches and participates as a clinical tutor in the Audiology Clinical Internship modules of the Speech Therapy degree. In addition, he participates in postgraduate activities doing theoretical-practical teaching in the Diploma of Diagnostic Audiology dependent on the School of Speech Therapy.
